Sky moves to streaming but won’t ditch the dish

In a recent move by Sky to compete with streaming services like Netflix, all channels will eventually be available online. Some Sky content has been available via streaming for sometime now but Sky plans to eventually release all its’ channels for online viewing. The first country to get full online channel access will be Italy, followed by Austria. The UK is expected to follow later this year or in 2019.

Can I still get Sky on my oil rig or yacht?

You may note that many articles state that Sky are “ditching the dish” but this isn’t true. Oil rigs and yachts reading this article shouldn’t be concerned about their Sky TV service. Sky are not proposing to stop broadcasting by satellite. The move will simply allows customers who cannot have a dish or do not want one to get one. Customers opting for online Sky streaming still require a Sky box in order to use the service.
